Teshay Makeda (pronounced Tash-Eye Ma-Keeda) is an award-winning Roots Soul artist, facilitator and cultural practitioner from South London. Fusing reggae, soul and R&B, she creates music that explores healing, spirituality, identity and the transformative power of voice.

Influenced by her Jamaican heritage and Rastafarian upbringing, Teshay uses her music to share messages of divinity, liberation and higher consciousness. Her songwriting is a vibrant contemporary expression of spirituality through sound, weaving soulful storytelling, meditative chants and uplifting rhythms into immersive musical experiences. Known for her powerful vocals and healing presence, her work invites audiences to reconnect with themselves, their communities and something greater.

A former Roundhouse Resident Artist, Teshay has performed internationally across the UK, Europe, West Asia, Africa and the Caribbean. Her career has included touring with Grammy Award-winning producer Trevor Horn and collaborations with reggae icons Beres Hammond and Sean Paul. In 2025, she was awarded Emerging Artist of the Year at the Boisdale Music Awards.

In 2026, Teshay performed at SXSW London as part of the Island Wave x Reggae Recipe stage, hosted by Ras Kwame, and received support from BBC Introducing for her single MOVEiN. The release marks the beginning of a new chapter of music and live experiences, leading into her forthcoming project, Throat Chakra -an exploration of voice, authenticity, creative freedom and spiritual transformation.

Alongside her music career, Teshay has worked across youth and community programmes since 2019 and is the founder of Roots Soul, a creative platform that brings together music, healing, culture and community through performances, workshops, ceremonies and immersive experiences.
